What HourIdler does
HourIdler hosts Steam sessions that report selected games as active without launching game executables. It does not inject code, modify game files or join game servers. This is a session-level activity signal, not automated gameplay.
The same is true of most idlers. ArchiSteamFarm and hosted services sign in to Steam the way the Steam client does and tell Steam which games are being "played". Desktop tools such as Idle Master ask your running Steam client to do the same. Either way Steam counts playtime for those games and no game window opens.
What Valve says about VAC
Valve's VAC documentation describes cheat detection. It does not endorse HourIdler or promise that every third-party account tool is acceptable. ASF's official security FAQ explains the distinction between reporting game activity and running game processes; its statements concern ASF, not an independent certification of this service.
In Valve's own words, VAC is "an automated system designed to detect cheats installed on users' computers". A ban follows when someone connects to a VAC-secured server from a computer with identifiable cheats installed. Valve lists what counts: third-party changes that give one player an advantage, including modified game executables and libraries.
Why idling gives VAC nothing to detect
Each condition in Valve's description needs something an idled session never has:

That is why idling is not a VAC question. It is not a promise about every other rule Steam has or may write later.
VAC is not every kind of account risk
VAC bans, community restrictions, sign-in challenges, trade limits and stolen accounts are different issues. The absence of game executables does not guarantee protection against every restriction or future rule change. Valve controls enforcement. The row worth planning for is the last one: fake idlers and phishing pages that collect Steam logins.
Account access still matters
QR approval provides HourIdler with a Steam session token without sharing your Steam password. Password login encrypts the password at rest, but the service can decrypt it when authentication requires it. Tokens also provide account access. Choose hosting only if you trust the operator with that access; self-hosting keeps credentials on infrastructure you control.
- Connect only accounts you own and keep Steam Guard enabled.
- Check the domain and the Steam Mobile approval request before approving QR login.
- Never send passwords, recovery codes, tokens or trade confirmations to support.
- Remove a connected account to delete its stored login material. Whole-account deletion has a three-day recovery window; read the gizlilik politikası.

Can idling CS2, Dota 2 or TF2 get me VAC banned?
The game does not change the answer. VAC looks for cheats on the computer that connects to a VAC-secured server, and an idled session does not start the game or connect to its servers. The CS2 hour boosting guide covers what idling does and does not give a CS2 account.
What happens if I launch a game while it idles?
Steam lets one session play games at a time, so it hands the playing state to your own client and the hosted session stops counting. Nothing is flagged; HourIdler's Otomatik Yeniden Başlatma simply resumes after you finish.
Does idling many games at once look suspicious?
The 32-game limit is Steam's own, and tools such as ASF document it. Running several games involves no game client either. As with everything else here, Steam sets the rules and we cannot speak for future enforcement.
Can a cheat someone else made get me banned?
Valve warns that cheats can be disguised and advises caution with mods, scripts and custom skins. That risk comes from what runs on your own PC when you play. A hosted idler installs nothing on your computer, so it adds nothing to that risk.
