About HourIdler
HourIdler is an independent, hosted Steam idling service. We keep your Steam accounts online 24/7 so they accumulate playtime and farm trading cards, without you leaving a PC running or installing anything.
HourIdler is built and run by a small independent team, not a faceless reseller. We started because the existing options were either a Windows app you had to babysit on your own machine, or open-source tools that meant installing Python and hand-writing config files. We wanted something you set up in two minutes in a browser and never think about again - so we built it and now run it on our own servers.
How your account is protected
Password-free QR login
The recommended way to connect a Steam account is scanning a QR code in the Steam Mobile app. Steam mints a session token directly - your password is never typed into our site or shared with us.
Encrypted at rest
Any credentials or session tokens we do store are encrypted at rest. They are never stored or shown in plaintext, and the web layer never decrypts them.
VAC-safe by design
Idling only sends Steam a "playing" status. It launches no game and never connects to a VAC-secured server, so there is nothing for Valve Anti-Cheat to detect. Read the full VAC breakdown.
No affiliation, no impersonation
We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Valve Corporation. We automate the same status signal your own Steam client sends - nothing more.
Transparent by default
Everything is spelled out up front: our terms of service (including a 7-day refund window), our privacy policy, and a genuine free tier - two Steam accounts, no credit card, no time limit - so you can verify the service does exactly what it says before paying anything. Real, non-anonymous customer reviews are public on the site.
